Self-consistent description of long-range and short-range correlations in the theory of liquid $\operatorname{He}^4$. II
I. A. Vakarchuk, O. L. Gonopol'skii, I. R. Yukhnovskii
Abstract:
A theory that takes into account consistently the short- and long-range spatial correlations is constructed on the basis of the wave function of the ground state of liquid $\operatorname{He}^4$ proposed in the first part of the paper; the variational principle and the method of collective variables are used. The short-range part of the wave function is chosen to obtain an exact description of the two-particle cluster. A minimum of the total energy is found under the condition that the long-range correlations do not change the values of the twoparticle distribution function at short distances. This condition ensures a self-consistent description of the two types of correlation and determines the correct nonanalytic longwavelength behavior of the structure factor.
