Abstract:
The theoretical principles and the experimental results of the application of polarography to the study of equilibria in single- and multi-stage reactions of carbonyl compounds with ammonia and its derivatives and of the acid–base properties of their products are examined. A comparison is made with data obtained by other research techniques. More than 100 reactions are analysed taking into account the nature of the carbonyl compound and the nucleophile. The mechanism of the polarographic electrochemical reduction of the reaction products, including aminocarbinols, is considered. The analytical application of the reactions in the indirect polarographic determination of carbonyl and nitrogen compounds is discussed. The bibliography includes 207 references.
