Optimization of laser amplifiers with spatial filtering. III. Estimate of the ultimate parameters of laser amplifiers

V. V. Lyubimov, L. V. Nosova
Abstract: Calculations are made of the optimal pulse duration, gain, and linear losses in spatial filters in order to maximize the efficiency of amplifier systems without damage to the glass due to small-scale self-focusing. Methods of achieving the ultimate brightness without substantially reducing the efficiency are indicated. The brightnesses obtained for different types of amplifier are compared.
