Imitrines. V. Dependences of the fluorescence quantum efficiencies and of the lasing efficiencies on the chemical structure of imitrines

Abstract:
Lasing in the 500-600 nm range with an efficiency of up to 27% was observed for eleven new imitrine compounds using laser pumping (355 nm). For two imitrines the lasing efficiency was higher than the fluorescence quantum efficiency η. Similarity between the values of η and the lasing efficiency of imitrines, and their dependence on the chemical structure of the substituents were observed experimentally. This means that the lasing and fluorescence characteristics of new materials of this type can be predicted and the search for more efficient lasing compounds can be speeded up.
