Научная биография:
Закончил механико-математический факультет МГУ им. Ломоносова в 1983 году. С 1983 по 1991 год работал на кафедре высшей алгебры механико-математического факультета МГУ. Кандидатская диссертация по теме "Многомерные торические многообразия с положительным антиканоническим классом" (1985), научный руководитель В.А. Исковских. С 1991 по 1996 год научный сотрудник математического факультета университета города Эссен. Докторская диссертации (Habilitation,1993) по теме "Hodge Theory of Hypersurfaces in Toric Varieties and Recent Developments in Quantum Physics" награждена премией
(Heinz Maier-Leibnitz-Preis 1995). С 1994 по 1996 год стипендия имени Гейзерберга Немецкого Исследовательского Общества. С 1996 года профессор кафедры алгебры математического факультета университета города Тюбинген.
Приглашенный докладчик по теме " Mirror Symmetry and Toric Geometry" на Международном математическом конгрессе в Берлине (1998). Член Гейдельбергской академии наук с 2003 года.
