The board is the supreme authority of the university. The board safeguards the interests of the university as an institution of education and research, and lays down guidelines for its organisation, long-term activities and development. The day-to-day management of the university is the responsibility of the rector, within the framework laid down by the board. The rest of the top management (pro-rector and director of administration), deans, heads of department and directors of studies perform their tasks on the authority of the rector.
The university's work — research and teaching — takes place at the departments which are organised into five faculties: The Faculty of Arts, The Faculty of Health Sciences, The Faculty of Social Sciences, The Faculty of Theology and The Faculty of Science. Source: https://www.au.dk
