Schools-conferences "Lie algebras, algebraic groups and theory of invariants" are aimed at senior students, graduate students and young scientists. The duration of each school is one week. In the first half of the day, several lecture courses are read, the second is reserved for reports by invited specialists and short talks from listeners. Schools are held at intervals of one and a half year.

The main areas of work are the theory of representations, Lie groups and algebras, algebraic groups and invariant theory. The schools topics include all sorts of aspects of the theory of transformation groups and related branches of algebra, algebraic geometry, combinatorics, harmonic analysis, symplectic geometry and topology. The organizers hope that the conference schools will adequately continue the best traditions of mathematics schools, which were attended by several generations of Soviet and Russian scientists.
