Abstract:
A study is made of a system of strongly correlated electrons that are localized on a lattice and coupled to the free electrons by the 4-fermion interaction proposed by Kondo. A realistic Hamiltonian is constructed in the basis of atomic operators of the superalgebra spl(8;8). A scheme is proposed for calculating the spectrum of Fermi excitations with respect to a small parameter, which is the hopping integral made dimensionless by intraatomic correlations. The static spin susceptibility is calculated as a function of the temperature and concentration of the electrons and is found to be in agreement with the experimental susceptibility for several narrow-band organometallic compounds. The nonphonon kinematic mechanism is used to estimate the possibility of superconducting pairing in the proposed model, and $T_c$ and the corresponding critical electron concentration in one of the correlated bands are calculated.
