Abstract:
The paper contains a survey of the basic results obtained in recent years on the theme described in the title. In particular, in the first section general questions concerning the existence of absolutes for arbitrary topological spaces and continuous maps are considered. The third and fourth sections contain a large number of old and new problems about extremally disconnected spaces and co-absoluteness classes.
