Abstract: The review presents new data on the preparation of aryl derivatives of thallium(III) and their application in organic synthesis, which is based on the possibility of the selective introduction of an organic group into an aromatic ring by replacing the thallium atom in arylthallium compounds. Processes involving the modification of aromatic compounds in the presence of thallium salts are also considered. The probable mechanisms of the reactions occurring in such processes are discussed.
