Abstract:
The review surveys and gives a systematic account of data on the oxidative substitution of halogen atoms in organic halogeno-derivatives. The stereochemistry of the reactions as well as numerous rearrangements occurring on oxidative substitution are considered. The influence of the substituted halogen (Cl, Br, or I), the substituents at the reaction centre, and the oxidant on the character of the products and the reaction mechanism is demonstrated. The bibliography includes 97 references.
