Abstract:
Recent results of studies of the kinetics of the reactions of monohydric and polyhydric alcohols and polyfunctional esters with peroxy- and alkyl radicals, oxygen, and hydroperoxide are examined. By comparing the reactivities of mono- and polyfunctional compounds in relation to polar reagents, it is shown that the rule of the additivity of the partial rate constants breaks down in all cases. The data are analysed within the framework of the concept of the multidipolar interaction of the polar groups in the molecule and the transition state and the complete agreement between the published results and the conclusions based on this concept is demonstrated. The bibliography includes 31 references.
