Abstract: Theoretical estimates are obtained of the possibility of using infrared laser radiation in the initiation of polymerization reactions in gases. A numerical solution of a system of vibrational and chemical kinetics equations shows that if the vibration-translational relaxation is sufficiently slow, it should be possible to polymerize such substances as acetylene, ethylene, etc.
