Evaporation of a drop by monochromatic radiation under diffusion conditions

V. K. Pustovalov, G. S. Romanov
Abstract: The process of evaporation of isolated water drops by monochromatic radiation of 10.63μ wavelength is investigated by numerical methods. The time dependences and values of the parameters describing completely the evaporation process are determined. The influence of the density and temperature discontinuities at the drop surface is considered. The effects of the evaporation coefficient and of the temperature of the ambient medium on the evaporation of a water drop in the diffusion regime are discussed.
