Abstract:
An experimental investigation was made of stimulated Brillouin scattering (STBS) in Nd3+ – activated glass fibers. Optical pumping of these fibers at the wavelength of 1.06 μ resulted in amplification. Linear amplification in these fibers lowered the STBS threshold and increased the gain of conversion into a reflected Stokes wave.
