Study of perforation of a thin-film recording medium by sharply focused GaAlAs/GaAs laser radiation

Abstract: A study was made of a method for storing data by perforation of a thin film (Te or Ag on a Plexiglas substrate) by injection-laser radiation of wavelengths in the range 830–880 nm. Submicron (of area 0.5μ2 or more) holes were formed, so that the recorded data density corresponded to the level in audio disks.
