Influence of the gain inhomogeneity on the frequency shift of a laser standard

V. A. Alekseev, D. D. Krylova
Abstract: It is shown that a transverse inhomogeneity of the pumping results in a "blue" shift of the frequency of a stabilized laser relative to a molecular transition frequency. This shift does not depend on the laser field intensity and may be an appreciable fraction of the homogeneous line width of the molecular transition.
