Overheating of an electron–hole plasma in an active element of an externally pumped semiconductor laser
A. Zhukauskas, I. V. Kryukova
Abstract:
The power balance governing the energy spectrum of a nonequilibrium electron–hole plasma in an active element of a semiconductor laser pumped externally by an electron beam is considered allowing for the heating of several generations of phonons. It is shown that enhancement of lattice vibrations in a limited set of modes can increase the temperature of an electron–hole plasma by ~ 100 K in an uncooled pulsed CdS crystal laser.
