Spectral tuning of laser emission using intracavity spatial filtering

Abstract: An optical arrangement is described for a tunable laser having spatially separated monochromatic modes (a laser spectrograph). An investigation of its operating features is reported in the case of the active medium of a CO2 laser and it is shown that the system considered has important advantages in respect of the spectral scanning rate and tuning possibilities.
