Abstract: An experimental investigation was made of Lu3Al5O12:Er crystal lasers utilizing a self-saturating transition 4I11/24I13/2. The absorption of the excitation energy from the 4I13/2 level of erbium ions had a considerable influence on the energy characteristics of these lasers.
