Mode competition in the 3s2–3p4 transition in a neon laser with a methane absorbing cell

Abstract: A theoretical investigation is made of the behavior of the intensity of one of the modes emitted by a double-mode laser with an absorbing cell and orthogonal polarization of the modes. The contrast, width, and position of the resonance power peak (relative to the center of the absorption line) are determined.
