Optimization of the parameters of a pulsed CO2 laser

Abstract: The simplex method is employed to optimize the operating conditions of a pulsed CO2 laser excited by a nonself-sustained discharge. It is found that for the given laser design the maximum specific energy output attains 80–90 J·liter–1·atm–1 for a pulse duration of 8 μsec and a specific energy input of 430 J·liter–1·atm–1.
