Abstract: An electric-discharge x-ray preionized XeCl laser operating in an unswitched regime was developed and the dependence of its output characteristics on the pump power was investigated. An output energy per pulse of 15 J was obtained with an efficiency of 2.4% from a 4.3-liter active volume.
