Neodymium glass laser emitting highly coherent radiation

A. M. Dukhovnyi, A. A. Mak, B. M. Sedov, T. V. Sokolova
Abstract: A laboratory prototype was made of a high-power single-mode neodymium glass laser with a narrow emission spectrum and a high degree of spatial coherence. A low-power Q-switched (exploding-film) singlemode laser was used as the master oscillator. The first amplification stage consisted of an amplifier with a telescopic resonator. It was demonstrated experimentally that this amplifier was suitable for preamplification of weak signals. The second stage was the usual single-pass amplifier. The operating characteristics of this prototype laser were determined.
