Relationship between exoemission parameters and optical strength of laser elements

V. S. Kortov, D. I. Perlov, V. P. Shifrin
Abstract: A report is given of the measurements of thermally stimulated exoelectron emission from the surfaces of sapphire ends of laser elements before and after laser irradiation. It is shown that such irradiation does not generate new types of defect on the surface but increases the concentration of the existing defects. Analytic relationships are derived between the intensity of exoemission and the optical strength of laser elements.
