V.N. Hakobyan graduated from the Yerevan State University in 1974. Dr. Sc. (Phys.-Math.), Director of Institute of Mechanics of the National Academy of Sciences of Republic of Armenia. Member of Specialized Council "Mechanics", Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Proceedings of NAS RA: Mechanics journal, Member of National Committee of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics of Armenia. Author of more than 80 publications and a monograph in the field of mathematical theory of elasticity and viscoelasticity, contact and mixed boundary problems, issues of transfer of loads from thin-walled elements to massive bodies, mechanics of destruction, application of singular integral equations and special functions of mathematical physics. Developer of the scientific trend in the field of simultaneous interaction of stress concentrators of different types; investigator of a wide class of contact and mixed problems.
