Graduated from the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen, Germany in 1992 majoring in Physics where he also received his Doctor in Engineering Science in 1996. After several years as Senior Scientist he was called to Vienna University of Technology as Full Professor in 2011. Since then he is Head of the Group for Laser and Laser Assisted Manufacturing at the Institute for Production Engineering and Laser Technology. He is author respectively co-author of more than 250 scientific papers and holds several patents.
