Abstract: The paper proposes the model of a steady state non-equilibrium distillation process. Equations of thermodynamic balances serve as a basis of this model. Authors show that the energy demand for any given capacity of a column depends monotonically on parameters of the reversible distillation. Using this result authors propose the algorithm for choosing the optimal separation sequence for a system of several columns used for multicomponent distillation process. The total energy demand of the system is the subject to minimize. In this process the important quantity arises – thermal coefficient of performance.
Keywords: distillation, multicomponent mixture, thermal efficiency, separation sequence, maximum capacity, minimum energy demand.
