Abstract: Novel branched organic–inorganic nanoparticles with cubic octahedral silsesquioxane core containing the statistically grafted photoactive azobenzene fragments and 2-hydroxyethyl groups were synthesized via hydrosilylation coupling. Preservation of the photochromic properties of the reactants in the final product was revealed.
Keywords: azo dyes, silsesquioxanes, bifunctional POSS, star molecules, nanoparticle, hydrosilylation, photoisomerization.
