The Oxidation of Heterocyclic Amines to Nitro Compounds using Dinitrogen Pentoxide

Abstract: The amino group of heterocycles has been oxidized to a nitro group using dinitrogen pentoxide; it is suggested that the mechanism of this reaction involves the transformations: amines→ nitramine →nitroso→nitro compound.
