Abstract: Treatment of 1-bromoadamantane and 1-bromo-3,5-dimethyladamantane with CBr4·2AlBr3 under carbon monoxide atmosphere followed by quenching with nucleophiles affords 1,3-dicarbonyl adamantanes.
