Abstract: The new functionalized hydroxymethylphosphonic and methylenebis(phosphonic) acids are synthesized via reaction of tris(trimethylsilyl) phosphite and N-formyl derivatives of five-membered N-heterocycles in the presence of trimethylsilyl triflate.
