Abstract: Sodium hydrogen sulfate is proposed as a mild acidic catalyst for the dopamine nitration with sodium nitrite. This reagent system gives nitrodopamine in high yield and excellent purity and is suitable for routine synthesis from milligram to multi-gram scale.
Keywords: dopamine, nitration, sodium nitrite, acid catalysis, nitrodopamine.
