Abstract: Statistical data of occurrences of disordered residues in the middle and termini parts of protein chain have been obtained. A new method based on the Ising model (model of two states) for prediction of disordered residues from protein sequence alone has been developed. Testing of the method by using two additional databases demonstrates that it ranks among the five best methods.
Key words: disordered residues, Ising model, specificity, sensitivity.
