On the local stress fields in inhomogeneous media determined by the acoustic emission method

Abstract:
Local internal stresses in two natural inhomogeneous materials differing in the structure have been calculated using analysis of pauses between acoustic emission signals detected by a mechanical loading. It has been shown that the change in the accumulation type of these stresses can be considered as a prognostic criterion of forthcoming fracture.
