Biography
Bulinskaya Ekaterina Vladimirovna (née Zakharieva) was born on December 23, 1986, in Voronezh. There she graduated from secondary school no. 38 with a gold medal. As the winner of the region competition in mathematics, in 2004 she entered the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics of Lomonosov Moscow State University without any preliminary examination. In 2008 she was awarded the Lomonosov scholarship for achievements in study and scientific work. In 2009 she graduated from the Department of Probability Theory of the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics of Lomonosov Moscow State University with honors (with superior academic average).
From 2009 till 2012 she was a PhD-student of the Department of Probability Theory (her scientific advisor was Professor E.B. Yarovaya). In 2011 E.V. Bulinskaya was awarded the President scholarship for achievements in scientific work. In April 2012 ahead of time she submitted to the Council of the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics her PhD-thesis "Bellman-Harris Branching Processes and their Applications to Branching Random Walks" based on 13 works without co-authors. The defense of the thesis took place on October 5, 2012. The Scientific Council officially appreciated her PhD-thesis as outstanding investigation.
The scientific interests of E.V. Bulinskaya are related to modern theory of branching processes and random walks. In particular, for the first time in the model of catalytic branching random walk she obtained a complete description of limit distributions of local particles numbers depending on dimension of integer lattice. E.V. Bulinskaya announced her results on international conferences held in Russian Federation as well as in foreign countries.
In 2012 E.V. Bulinskaya became a winner of the competition of young mathematicians of Russia held by the Dmitry Zimin Foundation "Dynasty".
In 2012 she also became a laureate of the competition (founded by O.V. Deripaska) of scientific works by talented students, PhD-students and young researchers from Lomonosov Moscow State University. In 2013 E.V. Bulinskaya was awarded the Lomonosov Moscow State University scholarship for achievements in scientific work.
In April 2012 she was taken as Assistant Professor and in June 2014 as Associate Professor to the Department of Mathematical Statistics and Stochastic Processes. Now she conducts practical studies on main courses of the department for students of the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics as well as gives lectures on special course "Introduction to the Theory of Branching Processes".
