Asymptotic Safety and Friends

We give a pedagogical introduction to the gravitational asymptotic safety program and the functional renormalization group which constitutes the main computational tool for exploring this scenario before highlighting some recent developments. A specific focus of the exposition will be on highlighting similarities and differences to other approaches to quantum gravity including non-local constructions.
