Knot quandle decompositions

We will present the fundamental quandle as a functor from the tangle category to a suitably defined quandle category. Such viewpoint proves useful when studying several families of knots and links, and allows generalization to higher dimensions. We will also discuss another decomposition of the knot quandle that comes from the augmented quandle structure.
