Ascent sliceness

A cobordism between virtual links is a pair (S,M), where S is an oriented surface compact surface, M an oriented connected 3-manifold with appropriate boundary, and S is embedded into M x I. Thus we can ask new questions in virtual knot concordance which we cannot ask in the classical case i.e. we can analyse the 3-manifolds appearing in cobordisms, in addition to the surfaces. In this talk I will outline some work in progress, which is an example of this in the case of slice virtual knots.
