In 2024, the 120th anniversary of the birth of Semyon Efimovich Belozerov (1904–1987), a researcher in the history of mathematics, rector of Rostov University (1938–1954). The talk is devoted to a review of the biography and scientific heritage of S.E. Belozerov. The article examines the activities of S.E. Belozerov for 40 years at Rostov University, his role in the organization and activities of the Department of History of Physical and Mathematical Sciences and the formation of Rostov University as one of the centers of research on the history of mathematics.
