Mathematical methods in solid state physics

In this talk we will consider the main aspects of the mathematical theory of topological insulators. Such physical systems are characterized by a wide energy gap that is stable to the small perturbations, and therefore may be described by topological methods. Topological invariants are introduced for classifying topological insulators.
