N.V. Maievsky. To the bicentenary of the birth

The main scientific activities of Nikolai V. Maievsky (1823-1992) will be represented, namely: the study of the pressure of powder gases in the gun barrel and the design of artillery systems; the development and application of the principles of ballistic similarity; the experimental determination of the dependence of air resistance on projectile velocity; the calculation of projectile motion as a three-dimensional solid body in the air and in a barrier. Maievsky's contribution to the development of the domestic and international scientific ballistic school will be appreciated.
