About Chebyshev's mechanisms

2021 year is the year of the 200th anniversary from the year of the birth of our great mathematician, academician Pafnuty Lvovich Chebyshev (1821–1894). It is appropriate to recall once again the mechanisms of P. L. Chebyshev. Wooden mechanisms and structures created by him, as well as wooden and metal mechanisms created according to his drawings and under his guidance, are part of the heritage of this scientist. The project "Mechanisms of P. L. Chebyshev" has been available on the Internet (tcheb.ru), supported by the Steklov Mathematical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The authors of the project created a unique collection of high-precision computer models of mechanisms, collected a large selection of materials with a biography of the scientist, a list of works on research of mechanisms of P. L. Chebyshev, with a description of museums where they store ( their own made mechanisms). Among the museums there is the Saint Petersburg State University, as well as the Department of theoretical and applied mechanics of this University. The author works at the Department of theoretical and applied mechanics of St. Petersburg State University and will add information about the Chebyshev’s mechanisms in this Department.
