Heun difference operators and bispectrality

The ordinary Heun operator is the most general 2nd order differential operator which sends any polynomial of degree $n$ to a polynomial of degree $n+1$. We generalize this definition to the case of 2nd order difference operators. Such operators are related to orthogonal polynomials of the Askey table.
