Abstract: The goal of mathematical statistics is to provide a plausible probabilistic hypothesis to a given observed data. It turns out that, using the notion of Kolmogorov complexity, we can formalize this task in a new way. This area is called algorithmic statistics. In the talk, we will define the main notions of algorithmic statistics and survey its main results.
