History of the creation and reconstruction of the cabinet of practical mechanics of the St. Petersburg State University

A report will be presented the materials from the book "Essays on the History of Mechanics and Physics" published in 2016 and will contain some new materials devoted to the history of creation, storage and use of mechanisms and devices of the Practical Mechanics Cabinet St. Petersburg University. The creation of the collection is associated with the names of outstanding mechanics at the end of the 19th and early 20th centuries. D.K. Bobylev, O.I. Somov, P.L. Chebyshev, I.V. Meshchersky and their students created their own scientific and educational work for the glory of the Petersburg school of mechanics. At the beginning of the XXI century the collection was recreated in the form of a museum exposition, and some mechanisms are used as teaching aids for special workshops for students.
