Scattering of vortices in Abelian Higgs models on compact Riemann surfaces

We show that if the adiabatic principle holds true, then the nondegenerate symmetric collision of $N$ vortices in Abelian Higgs models on compact Riemann surfaces leads to scattering on the angle $\pi/N$ (in adiabatic approximation).
