Abstract: The double Gamma-function is a special function discovered in 1888 and forgotten after 1904. Its applications appeared only after 1977 (with reference to Ernest Barnes). The discoverer of the double Gamma, Alexeevsky (1858–1916), was born near Novgorod, studied in Nizhny Novgorod and Kharkov, worked in the Kharkov University and the Tomsk Polytechnic Institute. He also was forgotten. In 1950–1952 historian V.V. Gussov found end exposed Alexeevsky works, but in that time nobody interested double Gamma itself.
