Abstract:
The report will present the results concerning the origin and structure of coherent vortices resulting from a reverse cascade in two-dimensional turbulence. Coherent vortices turn out to be highly isotropic, that is, they can be characterized by vorticity depending on the distance to the center of the vortex. The vorticity profile can be determined analytically, the predictions of the theory are confirmed by the results of laboratory experiments and numerical modeling.
