I. Meshchersky research on the gyroscopic stabilization of a monorail car

The lecture will consider I. Meshchersky article "Differential equations of motion of a gyroscopic car of a single-rail railway" (1921). The significance of the article in the first half of the 20th century for the development of science and technology will be analyzed. We will tell about the history of the discovery of the gyroscope and bicycle, consider technical projects of single-rail mechanisms with gyroscopic stabilization. The current relevance of Meshchersky and Shilovsky will be illustrated.
